MANGALORE: A third year BSc (MLT) student of a private college here allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan using her veil in her hostel room at Kankanady on Wednesday. The deceased is Manjusha Nair, daughter of Madhusoodan from Kollam, Kerala. The student was studying at Dr MV Shetty College at Panjimogaru.
Police said the victim staying with her distant relative Amrutha had not gone to the college at 8.30am citing illness.
When her friends came back in the afternoon for lunch, they found the door locked. The warden then forced the door open only to find the victim’s hanging body.
Police said a death note was found in the room which stated that she was not confident of clearing her second year microbiology paper in the supplementary, in which she had failed last year. She sought the forgiveness of her parents saying that she could not be a good daughter. She will be a good daughter in her next birth.
Police said her roommate confirmed that the handwriting on the note was the victim’s. The deceased’s parents have been intimated and they are expected to arrive by Thursday morning. The body has been kept at the Wenlock Hospital mortuary.
